How to get the most out of your treatment.
Preparing for your session.
A guide for getting the most out of your treatment.
These are my personal reflections and tips on how to have the very best Inner Smile treatment.
Doโs:
Allow plenty of time to get to your appointment so you do not feel rushed, helping to make your arrival as stress-free as possible.
Consider what your intention might be for the session โ it could be to feel more centred and grounded, to experience a sense of lightness and openness, to address specific pain or tension, or to simply drop in and receive.
Wear comfortable clothing so you can feel as cosy and relaxed as possible (avoiding super-tight or high-waisted underwear, particularly if you would like us to focus on the lower back)
Please make sure you have showered beforehand โ this is for both of our sakes, as we will be up close and personal for at least an hour. It doesnโt need to be right before the session, but please make sure your personal hygiene is tended to on the day of the session.
Let me know beforehand if you are pregnant so that I can make adjustments to the treatment room and prepare for a prenatal treatment ๐ซถ
Allow some time afterwards to ease out of the session and slowly reemerge into the world. Welcoming spaciousness and ease.
Perhaps even having a few mindful moments just before you arrive - taking a few deep, slow breaths, with a focus on extending the exhale, so that your mind begins to slow and settle, ready for the session.
Feel free to ask any questions at any time! Whether thatโs pre-appointment, during the consultation, or during the massage itself. I will always try to ensure you feel comfortable and informed, but if you need any adjustments or would just like to ask a question, please know you are always welcome to do so.
Breathe. Remembering the power of the breath when it comes to our own healing - Iโll bring the touch and guidance, and you can bring your breath and presence ๐ค
Dontโs:
Come to the session if you are unwell. Not only is this not the best time for you to be able to fully relax into the treatment (blowing your nose every couple of minutes will interrupt your relaxation and can make the session feel disjointed), but also as a fully self-employed practitioner, itโs very important to me that I do what I can to protect myself and my income, and avoid needing to take days off sick.
If you have a contagious illness (even a cold), please let me know at least 24 hours ahead of your session so we can reschedule. See my full Cancellation & Rescheduling policy here.
Drink (excessive) coffee, matcha, alcohol, or consume any other stimulants beforehand.
Eat a heavy meal just before the massage - lying on a full tummy will not be the most comfortable for you!
Worry about whether you have shaved, or feel the need to make yourself look โpresentableโ. You are welcome in all your fullness and humanness! Furry or smooth. Made-up or makeup-free.
Feel you need to show up in a certain way. You can arrive exactly as you are.
